Overview

VaMP is an enhancement to the existing (1.1.4) VirtueMart Manufacturers 
Module.  The existing module shows the Manufacturer names in a link list 
and/or a drop down list.  VaMP (this Plus version) can optionally show 
Manufacturer  Categories, Manufacturer Images and Manufacturer Descriptions.  
Manufacturer logos can be displayed from the "Images" fields (if the site has 
been  hacked to include image fields) or from within the Description field. 
VaMP also provides hooks for easy styling via a Module Class Suffix.

VaMP Installation

VaMP installs as a standard Joomla module:
Method 1
1. In the Joomla back-end, go to "Extensions" and then select "Install/Uninstall".  
2. In "Package File", click "Browse" and find the VaMP_n.nn.zip archive.
3. Click "Upload File and Install.

Method 2
1. Copy the directory named "mod_virtuemart_manufacturers_plus" to your Joomla site's
   "tmp" directory.  
2. In the Joomla back-end, go to "Extensions" and then select "Install/Uninstall".  
3. In the "Install From Directory" field, complete the path name with 
   /mod_virtuemart_manufacturers_plus/ and click "Install".

If a previous version of VaMP exists, record all of your VaMP module settings, then
Uninstall the old version before installing the new version.


VaMP Parameters

In the Joomla back-end, go to "Extensions" and then select "Module Manager". Click
on "VirtueMart Manufacturers Plus".  In the "Details" box, enter a title, enable the
module and select a Position.  The Modules Parameters are:
	- Pre-text
		Enter any plain text or HTML which you would like to be displayed at the
		top of the Module
	- Show Link List
		When enabled, shows a List of Manufacturers' Names as links which, when 
		clicked, take the user to a browse page of products from that manufacturer.
	- Show Drop Down List
		When enabled, shows a Select List (drop down) of Manufacturers' Names.  
		When a user selects one and then clicks the "Search" below it, it takes 
		the user to a browse page of products from that manufacturer.
	- Automatically Select Manufacturers
		This enables the Auto-Select of those Manufacturers that have Products in 
		the actual Product Category in which the customer is browsing.
	- Show Manufacturer Images
		If the VirtueMart site has been hacked with the addition of the fields
		"Full Image" and "Thumb Image" in the Manufacturers screen, this parameter
		may be set to "Full Image" or "Thumb Image" to display one of those images.
		If the site has not been hacked, this parameter may be set to "Description"
		in which case VaMP shows the first image file it encounters embbeded within
		the Manufacturers' Descriptions.  Either way, this parameter is typically
		used to display Manufacturer logos.
	- Show Manufacturers' Names
		This enables the display of the Manufacturers' names.  Often set to No when 
		showing Manufacturers' images (logos).		
	- Show Manufacturers' Descriptions
		This enables the display of the Manufacturers' description field, including 
		text and any embedded images such as logos.
	- Show Manufacturer Categories
		This enables the display of the Manufacturer Category names.  The output is 
		sorted alphabetically by Category, then Manufacturer.
	- Show Only This Manufacturer Category
	    This causes the display of only the Manufacturers from the specified Category.  
	    Enter the full Manufacturers Category Name.
	- Enable Cache
		Select whether to cache the content of this module.
	- Module Class Suffix
		A suffix to be applied to the CSS class of the module (table.moduletable).
		This allows individual module styling.  See examples below.
	- Menu Class Suffix
		A suffix to be applied to the CSS class of the menu item.

Styling VaMP

Each instance of VaMP can be optionally styled by specifying a "Module 
Class Suffix". Be sure to always enter a leading space when specifying a  
Module Class Suffix in the Module Manager.  See this Joomla article for

Within the VaMP module, there are 2 CSS classes defined:
	vampMfg is the class of the Div which contains Manufacturer Images,
		Names, and Descriptions
	vampCat is the class of the Div which contains the names of
		Manufacturer Categories
			
The best place to put VaMP CSS is at the bottom of your Joomla template's 
main CSS file, which is typically found in:
	templates/your_site_template/css/template_css.css
	
The following examples show how to use the Module Class Suffix with
CSS entries in your template's CSS file.

1. A typical "left" position, showing vertically all Manufacturer Category 
	names and under them, indented, the corresponding Manufacturer Names 
	(not logos):

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

 1. How do I insert my Manufacturers' logos into VirtueMart?
 	(assuming a non-hacked version - images in Description)
	- In the Back End, go to the VirtueMart component's Admin
	- Click on "Manufacturer"
	- Click on "List Manufacturers"
	- Click on the manufacturer's name
	- Underneath the "Description" box, click on the "Image" button
	- Choose the Directory where you wish to store the logo
	- Under "Upload", click on "Browse files"
	- Navigate to the logo image file on your computer and click "Open"
	- Click "Start Upload"
	- When the upload completes, enter the image description and title
	- Click "Insert"
	- You should see the logo image in the Description field
	- Click "Save"

 2. My page doesn't look right when I use VaMP because the Manufacturer 
	logos are different sizes.  What can I do to improve the look of the page?
	
	For best page appearance, edit your logo images before embedding them
	such that they all have the same height, and then assign the "vampDesc"
	class a width equal to the widest logo.

 3. Where else in VirtueMart is the "Manufacturer Description" used?

	If your flypage is configured to show the manufacturer and a user
	clicks on that flypage link, a pop-up appears showing the 
	Manufacturer's Name, Description, URL and email address.
	
 4. VaMP's content has the wrong styling for my page.  How can I change it?
 
	See the section of this readme file titled "Styling VaMP".

 5. How can I display the Manufacturers' logos in the main content area of
	VirtueMart's "main page"?
	
	First, follow the procedure in this VirtueMart Forum post to enable
	modules within the store description:
